Acrobatics

Acrobatic dance, commonly known as acro, combines graceful dance movements with remarkable and precise acrobatic skills. It demands a considerable degree of flexibility, strength, coordination, and precision. It draws inspiration from five core principles of AcroDance, while also incorporating elements from various dance styles like ballet, modern dance and jazz.

In its initial stages, your child will be introduced to basics like cartwheels, gradually progressing to more advanced techniques including tumbling, contortions, balances, lifts and leaps. This discipline integrates elements from fitness practices such as yoga and Pilates, along with principles from physiotherapy, to enhance both strength and equilibrium.

Stageschool

Musical theatre blends singing, acting, dancing (all styles), and storytelling into a cohesive and engaging performance. The very popular genre's roots go back centuries and there are specialized roles involved in putting on a production of a modern musical. This course provides a wonderful chance to bring out your child's inner talent and stage charisma. Musical theatre holds a central place at O'Hanlon's, culminating in a biennial Civic Theatre extravaganza, where our students shine. Past performances have featured beloved tales like Matilda, Alice in Wonderland, and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

Hip Hop

Hip Hop is a high energy, athletic, popular dance style originated on the streets in the late 80’s with break dancing. Hip hop has come full circle incorporating Capoeira, Martial Arts, Jazz, and Modern dance.

Hip hop classes infuse the latest styles of street dancing, breaking, popping, and locking. Students will be encouraged to step outside the box by bringing their own individual style and personality to the movements. Dancers will have fun as they learn combinations to popular and high-energy music!

Ballet

Ballet is the foundation of all dance and an important 'connector' class. It is a highly technical form of dance with its own vocabulary. Students will learn terminology in French, guidance on proper technique and correct body alignment, how to improve their natural turn-out, artistic expression and develop a love for the most graceful living art.

Corrections and feedback will be given to help dancers to continually refine their skills.

Body Conditioning

This class is a must for everyone and anyone! It is a fun and engaging class that specializes in building strength for better mobility and flexibility. It is ideal for gymnasts, acrobats, and dancers, but everyone is welcome, regardless of ability or age. You don’t need to be strong to start—this class is your first step towards feeling and becoming strong. Join us and discover the benefits of enhanced physical fitness in a supportive and inclusive environment!

Transition / First Steps

Exciting combo class for Junior Infants to 6th Class combining stage school and acrobatics. Students develop performance skills, creativity, strength, flexibility, and coordination. Annual production showcases talents. Divided by age groups. Enroll for a supportive and inspiring environment to thrive in both stage and acrobatics.

Creative Movement

Creative movement is an exceptional course tailored for youngsters aged 2.5-4 years. In this class, children will be introduced to three primary concepts: concentration, attentive listening, and embracing their individuality. These concepts are integrated into a musical curriculum that not only brings joy and camaraderie but also imparts essential life skills like forming lines and routines. This class aims to instill fundamental abilities related to musicality and rhythm, creating a holistic learning experience.

Competitive/Team

O'Hanlon's Dance Team is known for its inclusivity, offering multiple weekly sessions for young dancers to excel as the best versions of themselves. The team values individuality, growth, and a supportive environment free of drama. Join for a positive experience on and off the stage.

Camps and Workshops

Throughout the year, we extend invitations to several guest instructors who conduct workshops for our school's students. All O'Hanlon students have the chance to participate. These workshops provide an excellent occasion to explore diverse methodologies and artistic styles.

Camps also run during Easter and Summer months.
